A concentric ring composition of this complexity, eleven or more distinct bands, each following an irregular organic boundary requires the tufter to hold the logic of the entire piece from the first loop of pile to the last. Each band must maintain an even width as it navigates the slight irregularities of the organic form, and each ivory dividing line must remain consistent in weight around the full circumference. The colour sequence demands careful management of the tufting sequence, working outward from the terracotta centre so that each successive band can be judged against what precedes it. It is patient, whole form work, the kind that rewards the maker as much as the eventual owner.
