The Craft

The Form asks the tufter to work across five distinct zones within a single piece, each with its own boundary, its own pile direction, its own colour. The internal rounded rectangles must be held precisely within the midnight field their edges clean and consistent, their proportions maintained exactly as drawn. The striped base detail requires a shift in working rhythm: tight, regular alternation between white and grey that must remain even across its full run. The wavy outer silhouette is shaped and bound entirely by hand after tufting, each curve of the edge finished to hold the fluidity of the original design. It is a piece that demands complete comprehension of the whole before the first loop of pile is laid.
