The Craft

The Score contains two quite different technical demands within a single piece. The scalloped border requires the tufter to work in a continuous rhythm of tight curves, each lobe consistent in size and depth around the full perimeter, a meditative, repeating task that must remain even across a large run. The interior bars, by contrast, require precision of a different kind: clean horizontal edges, exact colour boundaries, and the spatial judgment to position each block in relation to the whole so the asymmetric composition feels intentional rather than arbitrary. Together they make the Score one of the more technically varied pieces in the collection.
